About Bazm -E- Sarwar
A gathering of praise: naat, manqabat, salaam and munajaat, kept in one place so that they can be read, recited and passed on.
Bazm -E- Sarwar is a free, non-commercial library of Islamic devotional poetry. It exists because this poetry has always lived in fragile places: in bayaz and notebooks, in photocopies handed round a mehfil, and in memory. Those are good places for a kalaam to be loved, and poor ones for it to survive. A line gets misremembered. A couplet drops out. A notebook is lent and never returned.
This collection is an attempt to hold these kalaam somewhere they will not be lost, and to make sure that every reader opens the same, correct text, in any city and on any phone.
Accuracy before completeness. A wrong word in a naat is not a typographical error; it is a wrong thing said in praise. Every kalaam carries a way to report a mistake, corrections are recorded rather than applied silently, and the full history of every edit is retained so a change can always be traced or undone.
Attribution only where it is known. Kalaam whose poet is not established are shown as unattributed rather than assigned to a likely name. A kalaam appearing here is never in itself a claim about who wrote it.
